Inflation Chart
If you need to learn more about the effect that inflation
has had on consumer prices, SignalTrend's Inflation
Chart is a great place to begin. Inflation also affects
stocks and interest rates, so our Inflation Chart also
shows the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the S&P
500, and bond yields.  Selected historical events,
have been charted to provide insight into what effect,
events may have had on inflation and investments.

The 100 year chart shows inflation from 1922. You'll
notice that there are many periods before 1950 that
experienced negative rates of inflation. In other words,
those periods were characterized by deflation.

The inflation chart shows that the last 20 years have
experienced relatively stable inflation rates, similar to the
tame inflation of the 1952-1967 period. That period gave
way to runaway inflation. The current period may as well.
